Bracing

Bracing shows a lone swimmer standing against the force of the incoming tide beneath Brighton Palace Pier. Set against the scale of the sea and sky, he appears to be gathering himself, caught in the brief, uncertain moment before moving forwards.

Photographed on 35mm film across Brighton and Hove, the collection observes moments of stillness, movement and leisure along the city’s shoreline and streets. The series moves between familiar landmarks and quieter, less defined spaces shaped by weather, light and the sea.
